Groupe Zannier in Licensing Deal with Jean Paul Gaulthier

Catimini's parent company, Groupe Zannier, has announced they'll produce the first children's line for French high fashion line, Jean Paul Gaultier. The Jean Paul Gaultier child line will consist of 120 pieces for boys and girls ages 2-14 to be offered to the public for Fall 2009.

Gauthier has long been known as the "enfant terrible" of the fashion world, always pushing away from conventions. It will be interesting to see what they've learned... fashionistas may remember "Junior Gaultier" and "JPG".

New Catimini Retail Store in Miami

Ok, catimini fans, news of a new Catimini retail store comes to us. The boutique childrens clothing store will be part of the Aventura Mall Nordstrom-wing expansion. Certainly, an interesting time for Catimini to be adding to their exlusive retail childrens clothing outlets here in the US. Given the current market conditions, luxury retailers have had terrible August and Septembers.

As you will recall, their other store, Catimini New York City has been around for a couple of years. We'll post some pictures as soon as we get some.

The brand is owned by French designer clothing leader Group Zannier. The group's mission for Catimini is outlined as follows (ignore the slight oddities in the translation from French to English),
"Catimini : a brand apart. Very creative, determinedly creative upmarket garments for children in exclusive fabrics in trendy and refined colours.
A fun and affective spirit characterises the CATIMINI collections, always enhanced by ambroidery and application, real seductive assets for mother and child."

I've always loved mission statements, I like this summary from their website even better.
"Catimini exalts the imagination of young and old alike!". "Exalts" is a word that gets used too little in English, i guess the French verb is exalter? which explains why it's used here... too bad its not used more in English!
